On 1-2 August 2011 within the framework of the EU-ILO Project “Gender Equality in the world of work” a wrap-up workshop on Consolidation of the Results of the Women Entrepreneurship Training Programme “Start and Improve Your Business” was conducted in Kyiv. The event gathered SIYB trainers, successful trainees (those who started their businesses as a result of the training programme), and representatives of the State Employment Service.

On 27-28 July 2011 the technical seminar for employers’ organizations took place. Participants summarized good Ukrainian practices of equal employment opportunities developed by Ukrainian Employers’ Organizations and discussed their further steps to promote equal opportunities at the workplace.

On 26-27 July 2011 the technical seminar for state labour inspectors of Ukraine was held. Together with the international ILO expert the participants discussed what the Labour Inspection Services can do to consolidate the achievements made within the EU-ILO Gender Equality in the World of Work Project.

This user’s guide was designed for staff of local employment offices, to be used during training sessions on gender mainstreaming. It accompanies the Guide developed for trainers of the Public Employment Service of Ukraine, which contains examples, individual and group activities and other resources, including a glossary of key gender mainstreaming terms, guidelines for the design, implementation and validation of gender mainstreaming workshops and other questionnaires and forms.

On 25 July 2011 the representatives of workers’ organizations met to discuss trade union strategy to consolidating the achievements of the EU-ILO Gender Equality in the World of Work Project

30 June, the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine and the EU Delegation to Ukraine launched a contest for Ukrainian businesses with the best equal opportunities practices. The contest will take place under the auspices of the EU-ILO Project ‘Gender Equality in the World of Work’.

Over 100 participants from the Government, employers’ and workers’ organizations, the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine, the International Labour Office (ILO) as well as civil society at large came together to discuss the results of the joint EU-ILO project “Gender Equality in the World of Work”.

During a round table discussion that took place on 23 June 2011the representatives from the Ukrainian companies, workers’ and employers’ organizations, labour inspection, Ministry for Family, Youth and Sports and the ILO reviewed the gender equality plans developed at pilot companies and summarized accumulated experience.

In March-April 2011 the PES with the support from the EU-ILO Project “Gender Equality in the World of Work” conducted 27 training sessions in all regions of Ukraine targeting 540 counsellors of the local employment centres, who work directly with job seekers, employers and provide vocational guidance for youth.
